DSS Lab Research Internship
Monash Handbook Entry for DSS Lab Research Internship
This unit will expose high-performing coursework students to major DSS research projects by joining existing research projects for one semester. They will be exposed to mainstream information systems research methods and will take part in the "life" of a research lab. After completing FIT5182 students may be inspired to undertake a higher degree by research.
Each intern will be supervised by an experienced DSS researcher. Interns will be required to attend DSS Lab seminars, workshops, and meetings.
The prerequisite units for FIT5182 are FIT5094 IT for management decision making, FIT5093 Business intelligence applications, and FIT5095 Data warehousing. Students must achieve a high distinction grade in each of these units. FIT5182 selection for students who meet this requirement is based on a final interview. Students are strongly encouraged to also study FIT4005/5185 IT Research Methods and FIT4007/5181 Advanced Topics in Information Systems.
